Job Responsibilities:
A successful candidate in the Safety Manager (Exempt) role will utilize their experience in managing and directing safety procedures on utility construction sites. A summary of the position is as follows:
- Supports the on-site Construction Manager and provides on-site safety oversight ensuring compliance with Company and Client safety policies and procedures.
- Proactively develops and updates on-site HASPs and on-site safety policies and procedures as necessary.
- Leads daily tailboards with on-site Construction Manager.
- Facilitates the investigation and reporting of all safety incidents to the Corporate Director/Vice President of Safety, Health, and Risk Management and other appropriate personnel.
- Coordinates the collection of information needed in the event of an incident
- Conducts and lead all safety root cause evaluations, fact findings, lessons learned and safety reporting.
- Regularly visits to operational locations to observe conditions and identify needs to improve the safety of the operation.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and communication within the operation at all levels and provides counsel to management on safety and risk management.
- Perform monitoring and inspections for ongoing utility projects to verify that work and construction sites and crew are compliance with the safety requirements of the project. This includes completing and submitting Inspection Report Forms and providing Photo Logs within one (1) day of each site inspection.
- Monitor the safety activities performed on work and construction sites to ensure that the activities follow all applicable requirements.
- Communicate, document, and report on any safety non-conformance or potential safety compliance issues to Client.
- Develop, maintain, and update a bi-weekly schedule report summarizing the upcoming schedule of inspections, the timeline of completed inspections, and a mutually agreed progress metric.
Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S in related Construction Management or Safety field and/or equivalent documented work experience with customer approval.
- 10 years plus in the occupational health and safety field, with responsibility implementing and managing health and safety programs.
- 5 years plus working with large utility companies as a safety coordinator.
- ASP/CSP, CHST, CUSP or equal certification.
- Ability to work independently and indirectly manage individuals at all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and similar programs.
Physical Requirements:
- Job conditions may be physically demanding requiring standing for extended periods of time, walking and driving on uneven surfaces and exposure to elements. In addition, incumbent must have the ability to do reaching, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), walking and stooping.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
