Job Title : Production Shift Supervisor
Department : Production
Reporting To : Production Superintendent or Production Manager
Job Summary : We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Supervisor to oversee our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth production processes, maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, and support a dynamic team in a fast-paced, automated environment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities :
Manufacturing Oversight :
- Supervise daily production activities on assigned shifts, ensuring smooth workflow.
- Monitor equipment performance and address malfunctions promptly.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and output targets.
Team Leadership :
Manage, train, and mentor a team of operators and technicians, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and develop personal growth opportunities.Handle recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees to build a capable team.Address and resolve personnel issues while maintaining compliance with the collective bargaining agreement (if applicable).Safety and Compliance :
Enforce compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards.Conduct routine safety checks and risk assessments to maintain a safe and clean work environment.Address workplace safety incidents promptly and implement preventive measures.Quality Assurance :
Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.Investigate and address quality issues in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team.Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.Production Planning and Reporting :
Complete production plans by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, and monitoring progress.Compile, initiate, sort, and analyze production performance records and data.Report results on shift production summaries and recommend operational adjustments.Continuous Improvement :
Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through process improvements.Participate in cross-functional projects to optimize workflows.Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and cost reduction strategies.Equipment and Process Management :
Ensure equipment functionality by initiating repairs and evaluating new equipment and techniques.Monitor processing variables and implement improvements in operational methods.Facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points.Professional Development :
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.Stay updated on state-of-the-art manufacturing practices and technologies.Key Requirements & Competencies :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing supervisory role, preferably in an automated manufacturing or high-volume assembly industry.Strong supervision, coaching, and team management skills.Proficiency in production planning, process improvement, and tracking budget expenses.Knowledge of controls and instrumentation, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to handle complexity and work in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in using manufacturing software and tools.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.Place in Organization Structure : Reporting directly to the Production Superintendent or Production Manager.
