Key Responsibilities:
- Craft handmade leather boots using traditional methods, hand tools, power tools, and machinery, ensuring adherence to quality standards and production quotas.
- Cut leather pieces according to precise patterns using cutting tools such as knives, shears, or dies.
- Skive and thin leather edges where necessary to ensure seamless stitching and a smooth finish.
- Sew the pieces together according to patterns
- Shape the boot upper around a last (a foot-shaped form) to achieve the desired fit and silhouette.
- Utilize lasting machines or hand-lasting techniques to pull and secure the leather tightly around the last, ensuring proper shaping and lasting creases.
- Steam or heat-mold the leather upper to conform to the contours of the last, optimizing comfort and fit for the wearer.
- Apply adhesive or cement to securely bond the outsole to the boot upper, ensuring a strong and durable connection.
- Press and trim excess sole material, ensuring clean lines and a polished appearance.
- Attach bottom midsole, soles, and stitch around the stitcher.
- Attach heel components, including stacked leather heels or rubber heels with appropriate traction for logging terrain.
- Edge and burnish exposed leather edges for a refined finish, enhancing both aesthetics and longevity.
- Apply finishing touches, including polishing, staining, and waterproofing, to enhance the appearance and performance of the boots.
- Following production schedules and prioritizing tasks to meet order deadlines.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures related to safety, quality control, and product specifications.
- Conduct thorough quality checks at each stage of the boot-making process to identify and address defects or imperfections.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate workflow and address production challenges.
- Follow standardized work instructions and production procedures to maintain consistency and quality in the manufacturing process.
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic leather working techniques and craftsmanship principles, continuously improving skills through practice and experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workspace to optimize efficiency and safety.
Training Period & Compensation:
We offer competitive pay and a Career Path:
- Level 1 (Entry - First 90 Days): $18.00/hr
- Level 2 (Experienced): $20.00 - $23.00/hr
- Level 2A (Senior): $23.00 - $30.00/hr
- Level 3 (Lead): $24.00 - $30.00/hr
- Level 4 (Shop Foreman): $26.00 - $32.00/hr
- Level 5 (Manager): $32.00 - $45.00/hr
Candidates must pass a 90-day qualification period at a $18.00/hour wage.
All Candidates must complete basic training and ramp up, have no absences/tardiness, no policy violations, and must acquire supervisor approval.
Paid Training with a Ramp period
Work Hours:
7:00am - 3:30pm
Monday - Friday
