Millwork Machine Lead

Full-time position, Monday – Friday 5:00 am – 1:30 pm with overtime as needed, $23.00 to $27.00 per hour based on experience. Paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, medical, dental, and life insurance.

We are looking to add an experienced Millwork Machine Lead who is responsible for overseeing the operation of our millwork machinery in an architectural cabinetmaking facility, ensuring efficient production of high-quality millwork components by managing a team of machine operators, setting up complex cuts, monitoring quality control and maintaining equipment while adhering to OSHA safety standards and project deadlines; requiring a deep understanding of woodworking machinery, blueprint reading and strong leadership skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Supervise and train millworker machine operators, assigning tasks based on project needs.

• Monitor team performance, provide feedback and address any operational issues.

• Foster a safe working environment by enforcing OSHA safety protocols and addressing potential hazard.

• Interpret blueprints and specifications to accurately set up millwork machines for complex cuts.

• Optimize productions flow by managing machine schedules, material usage and project orders.

• Conduct regular quality checks on millwork components, ensuring adherence to project satisfaction.

• Maintain accurate inventory levels of materials required for millwork production.

• Coordinate with the purchasing department to ensure timely delivery of materials.

• Implement daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance procedures on machine equipment.

• Document and report any quality issues to shop foreman.

• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and coordinate for repairs.

• Operate a forklift.

• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

• Responsible for the safe operation of machinery.

• Effective communication with team members, supervisors and other departments to ensure smooth project execution.

• Possess in-depth knowledge of various millwork machinery.

• Understand proper tooling selection, cutting techniques.

• General Math skills, ability to read a tape measure.

• Strong attention to detail and quality control.

• Good work ethic and attendance – must be self-motivated and have a good attitude.

Education and Experience:

• Ability to operate a computer.

• 2 years Millwork Machine Lead

• Able to operate basic shop equipment.

• Able to identify critical blueprint dimensions and instruct operators how to inspect and check critical dimensions.

• Ability to change and adapt work behaviors based on a constantly changing production schedule.

• Requires mechanical aptitude.

• Manufacturing environment is preferred.

• CNC, Edge Bander and beam saw experience is a plus.

Requirements:

• Requires frequent standing, balancing, bending, or stooping for prolonged periods of time.

• Able to operate heavy-duty machinery.

• Completing tasks within an allotted timeframe.

• Adhering to scheduled dates.

• Keep the area clean and organized.

• Lifting up to 50 pounds.

• Lifting more than 100 pounds using two people.

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 45 per week
