Job Summary
The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for assisting with the purchasing of goods and services necessary for the organization’s operations. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can effectively negotiate pricing, asist in inventory control, work closely with the estimating dept., follow up with and coordinate deliveries, and utilize various software systems in the day to day process. Work with the team members to keep materials flowing.
Duties
- Assist with the procurement process by sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services.
- Be aware of inventory control records to ensure stock levels meet operational needs.
- Collaborate with various departments to understand their purchasing needs and provide timely solutions.
- Assure suppliers provide favorable terms and agreed upon pricing.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to delivery or quality.
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Conduct research to identify potential new suppliers and evaluate their offerings.
Requirements
- Proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles is preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence decisions effectively.
- Familiarity with inventory control practices and logistics management.
- Knowledge of contract management principles is a plus.
- Above average organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Stable job history, excellent attendance and commitment to team required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
