The John Knox Village fitness staff utilizes award-winning AI technology, state-of-the art fitness centers with high-end equipment and a variety of classes to enhance residents' well-being and health. You personally, as a group fitness instructor and / or personal trainer, can make a difference by designing individual fitness programs to improve balance, increase strength and stability, reduce pain and inflammation and enhance the overall health of those we serve. This position offers flexible scheduling and no nights or weekends.
JOB SUMMARY
Leads programs for recreation, physical fitness (floor, chair, water), information, education and entertainment programs. Supportive of the Village's mission, values, and service / hospitality (PRIDE) expectations. Completes training as required by policy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conducts fitness programs for health, education, entertainment and recreational purposes.
- May provide personal training to members.
- Organizes and instructs exercise classes for all fitness levels.
- Ensures all participants are properly trained on the use of the facility's exercise equipment.
- Responsible for making sure that the exercise area and equipment are safe and clean.
- Lead classes in floor, chair and water exercises.
- May develop, schedule and promote fitness activities in Village activity areas.
- Assist with Village Activity big events and other activities as requested.
- Collects health history questionnaires, release forms, and physician consent forms from members.
- Provides orientation to fitness center and develops individual exercise programs for clients.
- Adheres to all safety regulations and requirements.
- Handles stress well and gets along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department.
- Maintains acceptable standards of workplace conduct.
The responsibilities described above represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to perform all assigned responsibilities.
