What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at JLG Architects?

Responsibilities
- Manage large and/or multiple project estimates independently.
- Strategize with clients, vendors, contractors and personnel in other departments to formulate estimates.
- Understand and advise on the project budget and track all project costs following JLG standards.
- Prepare updated budgets for awarded preconstruction projects.
- Track change order percentages.
- Evaluate cost implications of change orders, proposal requests, pay requests, and schedule of values; use information to make decisions regarding total construction budget.
- Utilize established vendor relationships, product lines, and methodologies to prepare comprehensive estimates.
- Engage in additional training and product knowledge opportunities as needed.
- Perform occasional site visits to gather information for end-user quotes.
- Analyze electrical, mechanical, architectural drawings and other documents to prepare detailed estimates.
- Adhere to strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with team leads and management, taking direction and implementing feedback.
- Prioritize tasks effectively and manage time independently, with minimal supervision.
- All other duties as assigned.
- 2 years of work experience in estimating public and private projects.
- Comfortable with construction methodologies and material specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specification manuals accurately.
- Proficient in Bluebeam and Microsoft.
- Proven ability to assist and gain the confidence of stakeholders (Construction Management team, project team, and client).
- Outstanding negotiation, risk management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven working knowledge of accurate cost estimating.
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
