What this job involves -
As a Data Center Asset and Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for managing all equipment deliveries, coordinating pick-up and installation, ensuring the receipt of IT hardware and data center supplies, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work well in a team will be critical in supporting a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders at our data center facility.
What is your day to day:
Managing and tracking inventory of all data center assets, including server racks, IT equipment, and supplies
Conducting regular audits of data center inventory to ensure accuracy and compliance
Preparing server racks, IT equipment, and data center supplies for delivery and coordinating pick-up and installation
Confirming delivery/receipt of hardware and supplies with appropriate IT stakeholders
Updating inventory management systems with new arrivals, deployments, and decommissions
Resolving any inventory-related issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime
Supporting the shipment and receipt of IT equipment for deployment/storage
Making arrangements for carrier pick-up based on shipping instructions and data center security protocols
Maintaining an adequate supply of data center materials and supplies
Forecasting inventory needs and initiating reorder processes when necessary
Reporting defective IT equipment or questionable conditions to the data center supervisor
Keeping the data center work area and equipment clean and orderly
Following prescribed safety regulations and data center-specific protocols
Complying with all policies and procedures of JLL and the data center facility
Performing any other inventory-related duties and tasks assigned within the data center environment
Desired experience and technical skills -
Required:
At least one (1) year working in inventory management, preferably in a data center or IT infrastructure environment
Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
Experience with inventory management systems and asset tracking software
Familiarity with basic data center operations and IT equipment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for inventory optimization
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
High degree of accuracy for handling sensitive IT equipment and managing inventory within the data center
Ability to frequently walk up and down stairs for inspections and inventory counts in the data center
Ability to detect emergency alarms (auditory and/or visual) in a noisy data center environment
Ability to lift 60 lbs. repeatedly, including server equipment and UPS batteries
Preferred:
Associate's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field
Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in data centers
Familiarity with data center security protocols and handling of sensitive equipment
Experience with barcode scanning and RFID technology for inventory tracking
Knowledge of inventory best practices and lean management principles
