What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician position at JLL?
This position is responsible for performing skilled electrical work. It required in-depth knowledge of electrical systems, strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to collaborate with other trades, clients and stakeholders. The electrician plays a critical role in maintaining, repairing and upgrading electrical infrastructure to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Desired experience and technical skills -
- Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Maintains and repairs motors, equipment, and control systems in campus mechanical areas.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Inspects low and medium voltage electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Advises management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure system safety.
- Prepares sketches or follows blueprints to determine the location of wiring, fixtures, and equipment and to ensure conformance to job specifications, building and safety codes.
- Installs ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
- Repairs or replaces wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Also places conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Provides preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
- Performs minor electrical testing, troubleshooting, inspections and repairs for general building work.
- Responds to a wide range of mechanical and electrical problems and troubleshoots to repair, including the ability to rebuild pumps and electric motors in house. Experience with laser alignment is also strongly desired.
- Operates systems in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with government regulatory compliance and standard operating procedures according to NFPA 70E.
- Performs maintenance in accordance with the CMMS. Assists with the development and improvement of preventative maintenance programs, schedules, work instructions, SOP’s and operational procedures.
- Recommends measures to improve equipment performance and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, shop, or work crew.
- As needed, provides general labor services including cleaning and organization of designated work areas.
- Successfully completes training and demonstrates an ability to perform equipment monitoring and operational checks on utility equipment.
- Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintains all codes, laws, and regulations through the JLL compliance program and maintains a clean and safe workplace.
- Interacts well with others in a team environment including maintenance and engineering team members as well as other internal or external customers.
- Able to work independently and follow escalation policy if needed.
- Actively participates in, technical and safety training programs.
- Performs additional duties as directed.
Desired experience and technical skills -
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance, construction, repair and servicing of power distribution systems.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical circuits.
- Trained in grounding and bonding of medium voltage systems and equipment and Test Procedures and Requirements for AC cable terminations.
- Must be able to provide after-hours support
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Word and Excel and CMMS Programs.
- Must be able to hold and grip objects, bend, squat, kneel, climb, crawl, and reach overhead.
- Must be able to work in awkward positions that require a twist and turn of torso.
- Push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Distinguish primary colors.
- Subject to periods of prolonged standing.
- Perform work on ladders, lifts, and scaffolding, including on roofs.
- Journeymen / Master Electrician card or GA Electrical Contractor License
- Experience installing and certifying data network cabling and terminations
- Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI) certification
- 2-3 years CMMS experience
- Knowledge of BAS (Building Automation System) or QBAS (Qualified Building Automation System)
