We are seeking a dedicated Lab Services Technician to join our Facility Management team. The ideal candidate will ensure the cleanliness, sterility, and proper disposal of laboratory materials while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment in our client's laboratory facilities.
What is your day to day?
Operations Oversight
- Oversee Operation and maintenance of glassware washing equipment and autoclaves.
- Ensure proper cleaning, sanitizing, and sterilization of laboratory glassware, instruments, and equipment according to established protocols.
- Manage the preparation and processing of items for autoclaving, ensuring proper packaging and loading techniques.
- Oversee the monitoring and documentation of autoclave cycles, including temperature, pressure, and duration.
- Coordinate the organization and distribution of clean glassware and sterilized items to appropriate laboratory areas.
- Manage the collection, segregation, and proper disposal of various types of laboratory waste, including chemical, biological, and general waste.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental and safety regulations regarding waste handling and disposal.
- Maintain accurate records of waste generation, storage, and disposal.
- Coordinate with external waste management vendors for scheduled pickups.
- Conduct regular inspections of waste storage areas to ensure proper containment and labeling.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on laboratory equipment.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, waste containers, and other materials necessary for lab operations.
- Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab service processes.
- Participate in safety training and adhere to all laboratory safety protocols.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to understand and meet their operational needs.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
Desired experience and technical skills
- 5 years of experience in a laboratory environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Completion of 40 Hour Hazwoper training.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety practices, waste management protocols, and sterilization techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment, including autoclaves and glassware washers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical ability to lift and move laboratory equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs.).
- Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of real estate or facilities soft services
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
