The Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice role has wide ranging responsibilities to include painting, general maintenance, preventive maintenance, emergency response, escorting vendors, and various project assistance for facility engineers. Primary duties also include responding to customer service requests as a standby for engineers on PTO.
This position requires for the employee to be on-call for after-hours emergencies, and localized travel within the assigned market.

Essential Functions
- Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws, and Healthcare Compliance Regulations.
- Comply with all safety procedures.
- Comply with all policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs.
- Assists other operational staff members in repair and maintenance of building equipment and compliance with all required maintenance and safety audits.
- Monitors operation of air conditioning equipment, ventilating and hot water equipment; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; recording readings as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment; responsible for reporting any problems/malfunctions.
- Uses a computerized maintenance e management work order system (Corrigo) to open and close work orders. Maintains records for work completed in a neat and organized manner.
- Maintains tools and orders supplies as required for various equipment repairs. Keeps logs, documents equipment repairs, closes work orders, tracks time accurately in reports and provides timely and constant communication with the Lead Engineer.
- Maintain lighting system bulbs and ballasts.
- Assist operations team in maintenance and repair of building and equipment.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs.
- Move office furniture, machinery, equipment, and other materials, as requested
- Perform assigned facility inspections and report on as-found conditions.
- Maintain good housekeeping and safety of work areas.
- Recognize danger and safety hazards; propose methods to eliminate them.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Prior painting experience is a must.
- Special knowledge and skills - Some skills in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Personal characteristics - Team player, hard worker, good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports and have excellent customer service skills.
- This position requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead, including:
- Ability to frequently walk up and down stairs for inspections and emergency procedure practice or implementation.
- Lifting a minimum of 80 lbs.
- Using ladders up to 20 ft and working from heights.
- Climbing a ladder with a 300-lb weight limit while carrying a tool bag weighing approximately 20 lbs.
- Candidate will be provided with tools required to perform assigned work scope.
- Ability to detect emergency alarms - auditory and/or visual.
- Visually inspect machinery and buildings.
- Equipment inspections require getting on hands and knees to reach areas difficult to access
- Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
