About the Job
JLM Environmental is seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST). While having the CSST certification is advantageous, we are committed to fostering professional growth and providing opportunities for individuals to develop their expertise within the Environmental Consulting field.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough surveys of clients' properties, following established sampling procedures.
- Perform environmental hazard surveys for asbestos, lead, mold, radon, fire and smoke byproducts, methamphetamine residue, and VOCs (includes visual inspections and proper sampling techniques).
- Accurately complete a Chain-of-Custody (COC) form for each inspection (some jobs may need multiple forms).
- Prepare detailed inspection reports with notes on materials, their locations, quantities, and other necessary information.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by confidently addressing clients' questions and concerns with respect and expertise.
- Perform inspections promptly (including drive-time) to keep scheduled appointments.
Position Requirements
- Working knowledge of asbestos, lead, and mold inspections and consultations is preferred.
- Certifications in asbestos and lead handling are highly regarded.
- Proven customer service skills required.
- Ability to work in various environments, including indoors and outdoors, in hot and cold temperatures, and inclement weather.
- Proficiency in wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) due to exposure to environmental hazards such as asbestos, lead, mold, radon, methamphetamine residue, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- Physically capable of climbing ladders to access attics and roofs or entering confined spaces like crawlspaces to perform necessary duties. Ability to carry approximately 50 pounds throughout the workday.
- Availability to work 40-50 hours per week, with the ability to sit for up to 60% of the day (including driving to job sites and office work).

Qualifications/Education
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Required)
- Customer Service Experience (Required)
- Cal/OSHA Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) Certification (Preferred, not required at time of employment)
- CDPH Sampling Technician License (Preferred, not required at time of employment)
- NRSB Radon Measurement Specialist or Technician Certification and/or NRPP Radon Measurement Professional (Preferred, not required at time of employment)
- Must maintain a clean DMV driving record and provide it upon request.
Compensation
$24.00 - $37.00 per hour
