Position Summary
To perform electrical maintenance tasks in a number of skill areas to install and maintain electrical machinery, instruments, and controls within the plant.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Performs skilled electrical maintenance tasks and assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical machinery, instruments, and controls throughout the plant. This includes i nstallation of electrical cables, conduit, wire, switches, lights etc. in accordance with applicable electrical codes, repair of electric tools and equipment, including power tools, test equipment, p erforming preventive maintenance on AC and DC motors, simple electro-mechanical components, programmable logic controller components, PM (preventive maintenance) to motors and other electro-mechanical devices, p ossess training and experience in all various skill areas to maintain plant electrical equipment and a full knowledge of electrical codes, diagrams, schematic drawings, and blueprints and c alibrating instruments, sensors, chart recorders, etc.
Education / Specialized / Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
High School Diploma or GED, good mechanical aptitude and understanding of electrical concepts, ability to work with others as a team, and completion of training required. Complete understanding of the thermal oil system. Has a thorough working knowledge of hydraulic systems. Performs task with little or no direct supervision. Assist with the training of Electrical Technicians in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in confined spaces. Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime and be on call as required. Must be able to wear hearing protection and respirator required for task being performed. Must have the ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and work in heights. Must have the ability to operate heavy equipment such as man-lifts and portable cranes. Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Works in all inside and outside areas of the plant and is often exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, grease, oil, and dirty working conditions. Work is performed while walking and standing or climbing a considerable portion of the time, often in awkward or strained positions. Routinely uses testing devices and standard hand tools.
