Position Summary
The Plant Manager supervises all aspects of the manufacturing at Nutri Granulations, including setting and meeting production schedules, meeting product quality requirements, maintaining all the proper documentation to comply with the SOPs, cGMPs and the licenses and certifications held by Nutri Granulations.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for all day-to-day Production operations and activities.
- Directs all employee training and new hire training with regards to receiving, scheduling, manufacturing, packaging, holding, and shipping of products.
- Responsible for safety training and documents the instruction of employees in performing their assigned tasks in accordance with Huber-Cal Carb guidelines.
- Responsible for coordinating shifts, arranging schedules, and monitoring employee performance.
- Ensures production meets health, sanitation, and quality standards set by the corporation, food industry, and government agencies.
- Recommends incorporating lean manufacturing systems, that train production line workers in all aspects of production in order allow managerial flexibility in times of worker absences or vacations.
- Ensures employees are following procedures that comply with state and federal regulations/guidelines.
- Collaborates with the QA department to develop SOP’S to help guide our operators and technicians to ensure we meet and follow our food safety requirements.
- Assists with investigation and resolution of process variances or customer complaints.
- Partners with Sales/Distributors to understand needs and requirements of major/target accounts.
- Maintains the La Mirada production schedule daily/week.
- Completes monthly reports as requested or required.
- Monitors production cost data, produced and shipments completed on a daily basis and guides Director of Operations in correcting unacceptable variances in order to control efficiently of production.
- Monitors and share production cost and efficiency data with the Director of Operations to develop plans to correct unacceptable variances and to increase production efficiencies.
- Ensure the facility maintains high standards of cleanliness and organization by implementing and enforcing 5S principles and housekeeping programs. Regularly audit and improve housekeeping practices to promote a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment.
- Develops and implements plans to improve processing, production and scheduling based on information gathered from Marketing, Sales, Technical and Engineering departments.
- Supervises Production and Maintenance technicians to ensure their work and performance supports plant operations and meet all process and safety requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
- Minimum BS Degree in Management, Chemistry, Food Science or other related field, advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years in the food and/or drug regulated product industry.
- Minimum of 4 years production supervisor experience.
- Direct granulation experience.
- Direct experience working with the FDA during onsite inspections.
- Must possess strategic planning, improvement, decision making problem-solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of CAL/OSHA regulatory industry standards for the food pharmaceutical and allied industries.
- Must possess good leadership skills - take ownership of projects and be an independent driver, working with others to keep projects moving forward as the leader of a cross-functional project team.
- Strong customer focus and communication skills.
- Must be independent, able to multi-task, and work in a collaborative team environment
- Must have strong project management skills and analysis skills. Able to review significant amount of data for accuracy and interpretation.
- Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication (both oral & written), presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Must be able to build good working relationships with others inside and outside the Nutrition SBU and to enlist the support of personnel and resources for accomplishing goals.
- Must be able to travel domestically in order to progress the goals of the business.

Any offered salary is determined based on relevant factors such as an applicant's skills, performance, job responsibilities, prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications and market considerations.
U.S. Market-Based Salary Range
Plant Manager
$119,200 - $154,800
In addition to base compensation, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and profit-sharing payout.
