Reliability Technician

Position Summary

• The Reliability Technician is responsible for inspection duties of several work teams, including E&I, Mechanical, planning and Reliability teams. This position will be part of the Reliability team and will support the reliability efforts of the Maintenance Department through inspections, routes, planning and Reliability projects support.
• Main responsibility is to perform inspection routes throughout the plant identifying equipment and systems problems and open maintenance notifications to fix them minimizing failures that can be prevented.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• The Reliability Technician will be responsible for area/equipment inspections and routes. This position will require good mechanical knowledge and experience. The successful bidder will be expected to inspect and troubleshoot equipment and be able to identify equipment problems using equipment including but not limited to vibration pen, Ultrasound detector, Infrared thermometer, stroboscope, and stethoscope. He or She will need to have the knowledge on how to fix mechanical problems. Any issue identified will need to be written up in SAP as a notification for repair. This position will make equipment rounds daily of critical equipment as defined by the routes and fill out checklists and reports. This position will be required to enter new notifications in SAP and check for notifications already open in the backlog. Therefore, this position will require computer Literacy and knowledge in the PM module within SAP or similar maintenance management systems. The Reliability Technician must have enough knowledge to provide feedback to improve the routes.
• The Reliability Technician will assist the 3rd party PdM technician, as needed.
• The Reliability Technician will assist the Reliability Engineers with implementing Reliability projects.
• The Reliability Technician will assist the repairable planner and Reliability Engineers with external inspections and 3rd party PM’s.
• The Reliability Technician will assist with initiating and supplying vendor information for new stores stock items as needed to accomplish planning task.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

• Strong knowledge in troubleshooting and repairing equipment.

• Must be able to read and write and must possess competence in basic mathematics.

• Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position.

• Must have demonstrated the ability to learn to perform the duties of the position within 6 months of assignment.

• Computer Literacy.

• Ability to work independently or in pairs.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Mechanical and Lubrication Experience

• Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite, SAP or similar)

• Experience or knowledge in vibration, Infrared, stroboscope and stethoscope monitoring

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to carry motors, large pump/valve, gear box, electrical cabinet, etc. weighing up to 100 pounds during 12 hour shift, using correct ergonomics (lifting technique, co-worker assistance or lifting aid) and conforming to GMP standards.
