Job Summary
Our Resort Valets (Dog Handler) provide an essential service to pet parents who drop off and pick up their fur babies. It is your smile and friendly demeanor that will greet each pet parent at the beginning and end of each day. Our Resort Valets (Dog Handler) should have excellent handling skills as pets are led with care throughout the facility. Resort Valets (Dog Handler) should act with a sense of urgency to ensure a positive experience for both the pet and its parents.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist clients in bringing pets, pet belongings, or store purchases to vehicles.
- Use runner’s checklist daily.
- Interact with clients in a friendly professional manner when retrieving and releasing pets.
- Learn, remember, and identify dogs by name for all active clients, understand and identify universal canine body language and recognizable dog behaviors.
- Follow specific handling guidelines to safely navigate dogs throughout the facility.
- Follow specific guidelines for all boarder releases
- Ensure dogs are never permitted to greet each other on leash or in hallways.
- Observe condition of enclosures when releasing pets; report health concerns or unusual behaviors to kennel lead.
- Learn and follow color-coded caution system describing employee restrictions and permissions for dog handling.
Computer Skills
- Must be able to learn and efficiently use One Note, When I Work and Go Daddy email.
- Must be able to learn new technology in accordance with business needs.
Qualifications
- 1 years of Animal Care experience required.
- Professional pet industry experience strongly preferred.
- Passionate about animal welfare. Treats all animals with compassion and kindness.
- Comfortable interacting with all dog breeds large and small.
- Experience entering, retrieving, maintaining customer databases.
- Follow rotating work schedule e.g. nights, weekends and holidays.
- Reliable and dependable. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Strong work ethic. Sets high standards for self and others
- Must be able to climb 2 flights of stairs multiple times per day.
Physical Demands
- Majority of day is spent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of animals including small and large dogs.
- Must be able to work around pet hair and dander.
- Must be able to climb 2 flights of stairs multiple times per day.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
