Job Summary:
At JM Pet Resort & Veterinary Clinic, we’re looking for passionate and skilled animal care professionals to join our growing team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The Certified Veterinary Technician Supervisor will direct, plan, coordinate and perform a variety of duties concerned with animal health, staff training, and client education in support of the Medical Director, and Hospital Administrator, to ensure quality care for our patients and promote greater efficiency by assuming technical work and managing details. This position will supervise a team of technicians and assistants. This position will closely communicate with the Hospital Administrator & Medical Director to ensure a productive and positive work environment.
Essential Job Functions:
Certified Veterinary Technician Supervisor – Exam Rooms & Wellness Focus
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
- Lead and mentor a team of technicians and assistants, ensuring effective support for veterinarians and management in technical and client education tasks.
- Oversee the successful completion of the Technician Phased Training Program and support team member growth through identifying training needs and developing tailored programs.
- Facilitate conflict resolution, provide feedback, and help guide team members in adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
- Assist with strategic scheduling while maintaining compliance with federal and state animal health regulations, including OSHA, and notify the Hospital Administrator of any safety or regulatory issues.
- Become an expert in the hospital’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and procedures, ensuring the team’s adherence and educating clients as needed.
Equipment & Inventory Management:
- Oversee the maintenance, quality control, and troubleshooting of equipment, including Idexx lab machines.
- Monitor and manage supplies in the treatment area, ensuring proper communication with the Hospital Administrator as needed.
Personnel Management:
- Assist in training new hires and support performance evaluations (introductory, annual, and performance counseling).
- Collaborate with the Surgical Coordinator to plan and conduct Technician meetings, ensuring action items are tracked and completed.
- Assist with managing staff and hospital Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), in conjunction with the Hospital Administrator.
Client Satisfaction & Education:
- Resolve conflicts with clients, ensuring policies are upheld and offering timely solutions to concerns.
- Educate clients on preventative medicine, vaccines, and available services, advocating for both client and patient needs.
- Engage in “in-the-moment” conversations with clients to resolve issues, knowing when to escalate matters to management for further support.
Other Duties:
- Assist the Hospital Administrator or President with additional tasks as needed.

Computer Skills
- Proficient with multiple platforms and adaptable to new technologies.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of lead or supervisory experience in a Veterinary Hospital or similar environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy when dealing with emotionally charged clients and sick animals.
- Ability to work under the direction of the Hospital Administrator, Medical Director, and President.
- Highly organized with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Comfortable working with animals of all breeds and sizes.
- Must follow a rotating work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Strong work ethics and high standards for self and others.
Education
- Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 - $37.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
