Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to strategic planning and policy development to enhance the university STEM environment, including secure access for students and assessments of policies influencing talent development.
- Analyze and respond to inquiries from Congress, DoD leadership, and other federal agencies related to STEM education and research at universities.
- Assist in the preparation of briefings, reports, legislative proposals, and other documentation on policies impacting the university STEM environment.
- Collect and analyze data and performance metrics relevant to DoD’s engagement with higher education STEM initiatives.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other federal agencies on STEM policy matters.
- Provide support for actions related to Confucius Institutes at institutions of higher education, including compliance with DoD funding prohibitions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies upholding scientific integrity within the DoD.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in public policy, science and technology policy, education policy, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in research policy, federal program analysis, or STEM-related strategic planning.
- Strong understanding of higher education STEM environments, federal research funding structures, and interagency coordination.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with legislative processes and experience engaging with Congressional or federal agency inquiries is a plus.
