Accounts Payable Intern | Laporte, IN

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to join our finance team in a manufacturing environment. This position requires a strong foundation in accounting, with at least two years of professional experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent math skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting. Requirements & Skills:
· Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable.
· Strong math and analytical skills, with an ability to identify and correct errors in data.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (ability to manipulate data, create formulas, and generate reports).
· Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or other ERP systems) is a plus.
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
· Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Primary Duties Include:
· Process and verify accounts payable invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
· Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving reports to ensure proper documentation and approval.
· Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors using various payment methods, including checks, ACH, and credit card transactions.
· Review vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies, working directly with vendors and internal departments.
· Maintain accurate and organized records of accounts payable transactions within the company’s accounting software.
· Assist with the preparation of weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payment runs.
· Process employee expense reports and reimbursements in accordance with company policies.
· Collaborate with internal teams such as purchasing, receiving, and other accounting staff to resolve any issues or concerns related to payments.
· Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure accurate financial reporting.
· Support audit preparation and compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies.
· Perform other duties and assist senior accounting staff as needed to support the finance department.
