1st Shift: 6am until 8pm unless needed longer, Monday through Friday
The role of a Cosmetic Compounder is critical in the creation of cosmetic and personal care products. As a Compounder, you will be responsible for accurately measuring, mixing, and blending raw materials to create batches of high-quality cosmetic formulations. Your meticulous attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality standards will contribute to the consistent production of exceptional cosmetic products.
Key Responsibilities:
Raw Material Preparation:
- Review batch sheets and formulation documents to understand the required ingredients, quantities, and processing instructions for each cosmetic product.
- Gather and stage the necessary raw materials, ensuring they meet quality and specification criteria.
Weighing and Mixing:
- Accurately measure and weigh raw materials, including liquids, powders, and additives, according to the formulation specifications.
- Operate mixing equipment to blend the raw materials and create homogeneous cosmetic compounds.
Quality Control:
- Perform quality checks on raw materials, ensuring they meet required standards before use.
- Conduct in-process quality inspections during the compounding process to identify any deviations from the expected appearance, consistency, or color.
Batch Documentation:
- Maintain detailed and accurate batch records, documenting the types and quantities of raw materials used, lot numbers, and processing parameters.
- Record any adjustments or deviations made during the compounding process.
Equipment Care and Cleaning:
- Clean and sanitize compounding equipment, utensils, and work areas before and after each batch to prevent contamination and maintain hygiene.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of chemicals.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and industry regulations to ensure product safety and quality.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Quality Control team to ensure products meet quality standards and promptly address any quality issues.
- Collaborate with formulation experts and other production teams to troubleshoot and optimize cosmetic formulas.
Inventory Management:
- Assist in monitoring raw material inventory levels and report shortages to ensure uninterrupted production.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in cosmetics manufacturing or chemistry is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Compounder, ideally within the cosmetics, personal care, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Strong understanding of cosmetic formulations, raw materials, and compounding techniques.
- Familiarity with equipment such as mixers, homogenizers, and scales.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, GMP, and regulatory guidelines related to cosmetics manufacturing.
- Excellent attention to detail, precision in measurements, and ability to follow complex formulations.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy containers and stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, weekends, or extended hours to meet production demands.
