What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at JMK Engineers?
JMK Engineers is currently seeking a talented, well-rounded, and knowledgeable individual for the Junior Electrical Engineer role, with typically, a minimum of five years of ever-increasing responsibility within the industry, and up to ten years experience. This experience can include time with a construction company, a contractor, or engineering firm.
The ideal candidate will appreciate and excel in a dynamic career opportunity that offers significant scope and accountability, while also benefiting from dedicated mentorship and coaching for professional development. We operate in a fast-paced environment within a streamlined team structure.
A local role is preferred, although a hybrid work and/or remote role will be considered for the right candidate, and as such requires a proven track-record on working as part of a distributed and high-performing team. Strong communication and client management skills is a must.
Time in industry: 5-10 years
Essential Design Skills include (but not necessarily limited to):
- Electrical load calculations with regard to National Electrical Code (NEC); Knowledge of power distribution equipment (MDP’s, MCC’s, Load Centers, etc.) sizing and layout; One-line diagrams; Energy code compliant lighting controls; Light level calculations via Visual Lighting software; Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis of performing calculations and analysis via Excel
In addition to essential design responsibilities, the ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in, and ability to work within:
- Microsoft Office: especially Excel; online collaboration tools such as Google Drive; exceptional document management and organizational skills; Knowlede of the design process knowledge (SD, DD, CD) and procedures (permitting, RFI's, Addendums, etc.); AutoCAD: ability to operate effectively within an AutoCAD environment, employing company-specific drafting protocol, layers, blocks, etc.; Building codes: sound knowledge of local MEP-related building codes, including IBC, NEC, NFPA, UPC, IMC, etc. to assist with MEP-related calculation and design are expected; Collaborative skills: capability to conceptualize building systems for coordination amongst trades; Drawing development: proficiency in developing clear, scope-apparent drawings for MEP-related systems
