Position summary : Responsible for the growth of our Facility Construction Management (CM) operations, business development, oversight of Project and Program Management of new and current contracts, financial success, and managing staff for the department at the local level. Integration with our Transportation CM and Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing (MEP) leaders locally, alignment with their clients and coordination for future workshare and other assignments.
Essential functions and responsibilities
Identify upcoming Facility CM opportunities in the industry in advance of the solicitation posting to industryStrategically develop a plan and potential teaming partners for upcoming Facility CM opportunitiesCoordinate strategic growth plan with office managers, local section heads from MEP, architectural and buildings structures disciplines and practice leadersEstablish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business developmentManage financial budget for department and allocate resources accordinglyLead and contribute to the production of proposalsServe as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staffEstablish resources staffing needs for the sectionInterview and hire staff for the sectionPerform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teamsLead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1 : 1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of teamNonessential functions and responsibilities
Perform other related duties as assignedParticipate in local relevant industry agencies and chapters such as ACEC and CMAARequired Skills
Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screeningProficient in Microsoft OfficeRequired Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited programUnderstanding of Construction Management Best Practices in the Buildings and Facilities industryProfessional Engineer License or equivalent15 years’ experience in specialized disciplineProject management and business development experiencePreferred Experience
Professional Engineer (PE) License in VA, Washington DCCertified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP)Experience working with local clients at the county and state levelA network of clients and AEC partners, including small business partners in the Northern Virginia, Richmond and Hampton Roads areaExperience with school’s programs for CM project needs and requirementsExperience in the Water / Wastewater industry with pump stations, treatment plants and ancillary utility facilitiesExperience with Transit Agencies such as WMATA, VRE, HRT, Amtrak, CSXUnderstanding of mechanical and electrical systems for construction inspection and quality oversightSupervisory experienceExperience with Construction Document Management Systems and their applications, such as Procore, e-Builder for exampleUnderstanding of Project Controls such as scheduling, cost estimating, claims management, risk management, value engineering workshop managementExperience with Building Commissioning (Cx) and Asset ManagementWorking Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field visits are anticipated to meet with staff, clients and contractors on a weekly basis. Driving to other Virginia offices for staff, partnering and client coordination is expected monthly.
