Job Overview
The Assistant Store Manager will be responsible for supporting the Store Manager in the daily business operations of our retail store. General tasks include supervising employees, managing inventory, communicating with and helping customers, and carrying out directives given by the Store Manager. JNJ’s retail store provides gameday gear, online order pick-ups, and custom, creative merch to students, parents, and sports fans in downtown Tuscaloosa.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers with kindness and enthusiasm.
- Assist in leading a team of part-time workers.
- Responsible for store opening and closing.
- Assist in keeping store inventory organized and the floor stocked.
- Assist in recruiting and training new store team members.
- Assist in creating product content for social media.
- Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient customer experience.
- Maintain a clean, organized and aesthetically pleasing store front and back retail inventory.
- Ensure that all merchandise is displayed and merchandised properly.
- Ensure that store policies and procedures are followed.
- Assistant Store Manager will be in charge when Store Manager is not there
Qualifications:
- 1 Year minimum of retail experience required.
- Key holder/managerial experience required
- Experience in training and managing a team.
- Experience with Shopify is a plus.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs if necessary.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Availability and Schedule:
- Store Hours: Monday-Saturday: 10:00am-6:00pm, Sundays: 12:00pm-4:00pm
- Working Hours: The Assistant Store Manager would work Monday-Friday 10am-6pm and at least one Saturday per month. The Assistant Store Manager must be able to work flexible hours.
Salary and Benefits Information:
- Pay Rate: $15-$17/hour depending on experience
