What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security officer 2nd position at Joann?
SUMMARY
The Security Officer's first priority is to maintain a safe and secure environment for JOANN Team Members, visitors, and property (including personnel, premises, and content).
The Security Officer also provides escort services and customer service-based assistance as needed. This position also performs routine safety patrols and provides first-line response during emergency situations.
Provides physical premises protection for the Company’s Store Support Center (SSC) or Distribution Centers (DC). Monitor the access control badge system to ensure all Team Members, visitors, and contractors have the required access to perform their duties within all facilities, ensuring access where business needs dictate, and restricting unauthorized movement.
JOB DUTIES
- Be always visible and observant, greeting Team Members, guests, contractors, and vendors in a courteous and attentive manner.
- Respond immediately to alarms and calls for medical emergencies, disruptive persons, disorderly conduct and any other incidents requiring security assistance swiftly and appropriately.
- Control access areas in a manner that keeps unauthorized person(s) from entering the premises. Including maintaining the ProWatch access control system.
Including creating new badges, deleting badges, adding and removing access.
- Patrol the interior and exterior of the premises, and conduct vehicle checks, and bag checks as directed.
- Communicate with other security officers on all shifts for effective post coverage and protection.
- Observe, report, and document safety hazards, product damage, vandalism, incidents of theft, etc. in a timely manner.
- Be aware of and take steps to correct or minimize any situation that has the potential to result in loss of life, injury, or damage to JOANN property.
- Monitor interior and exterior of building via CCTV system.
- Monitor for inclement weather and call for snowplow and salt for parking lots and sidewalks when necessary.
- Assist with shelter in place and evacuation drills in preparation for actual emergencies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education Minimum : High School diploma or equivalent
Education Preferred : Associate degree in related field
Experience Minimum : 0-2 years' experience with security or related experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Maintain a customer service mindset and focus.
- Familiar with CCTV, Access Control and Intrusion systems
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- First Aid and CPR / AED certified - can be obtained after being hired.
