POSITION SUMMARY
Coordinates and provides administrative support to production, warehouse and/or logistic departments. Directs the activities of employees and may be required to perform some of the same work as that of the group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
• Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines
• Know emergency procedures and what to do in the event of power outages, machine failures, workplace injuries, etc.
• Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Understand and identifies Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
• Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately
• Actively participates in the D&W safety improvement process/activities, e.g. Hazard Identification, Safety Suggestions, Safety Teams, etc.
Tasks
• Consult with Department Supervisor to establish work priorities. Plan work to be performed by the group.
• Determine daily work activities and establishes priorities for others in various hourly job groups.
• Assign daily tasks and priorities to employees with assigned group.
• Assumes supervisor duties in the absence of the Production Supervisor or Operations Manager.
• Provide training to group members on safe and correct work procedures as needed.
• Provide assistance to production employees resolving on-the-job technical problems.
• Recommends to and consults with Production Supervisor and or department or Operations Manager on work assignments for employees in various job groups.
• Solicit assistance from other support groups; shipping, receiving, maintenance, tool room etc.
Reconcile manufacturer orders.
Create Production Shop packets and manufacturer order labels.
• Arrange for necessary tools and supplies to be ordered by Supervisor.
Inspect, coordinate, and record work performed by group.
• Provide feedback relating to temporary workers and new hires job performance.
• Assign cycle counted as needed.
• Record inventory counts; responsible for recounting and recording any and all variances.
• Provide production reports as requested by management.
• Schedule breaks and lunches.
• Follow all D&W policies, procedures and standard work when performing any of the job duties.
• Follow plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP’s
• Support the Plant’s Food Safety initiatives by completing plant required Food Safety training and by implementing / complying with the required practices.
• Support company Food Safety efforts through commitment and compliance to SQF standard practices and policies
• Assists other workers with specific chores as requested
QUALIFICATIONS
• Willingness to work and follow verbal/written instructions
• Ability to lead employees and delegate work assignments.
• Ability to read, write clearly and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Intermediate computer skills
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Works within established procedures with moderate degree of supervision
• High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
