What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) position at Job Pools?
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant Program from an accredited college or university recognized by the National Board for Certification of Physical Therapy.
- Must have completed all fieldwork requirements of the Program.
- Current and valid PTA license issued by the State of New Hampshire.
- Prior experience in a school setting with students is preferred.
- Experience implementing appropriate therapy under the direction of a Physical Therapist.
- Valid driver’s license and own transportation.
Specific Core Function:
Assist with evaluation of students’ needs; assist in developing, monitoring and implementing therapy programs; and provide assistive services to the school personnel.
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Provides direct physical therapy services to students according to IEP goals for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established practices and procedures.
- Works under the supervision of a Physical Therapist in adapting environment, tools and materials in order to improve student functioning in the classroom setting.
- Assists the Physical Therapist in assessing student’s motor and developmental skills for the purpose of determining the student’s deficits and developing recommendations.
- Attends IEP team meetings as requested in order to provide or receive information in order to implement school based physical therapy services.
- Consults with the Physical Therapist, other related service providers and teachers for the purpose of implementing, revising or making recommendations on IEP goal implementation.
- Implements therapeutic activities and instructs students, teachers, parents and other involved persons for the purpose of providing appropriate care to students and supporting the student’s IEP plan for use in the classroom.
Specified Length/Hours of Position:
This is a non-affiliated position, which follows the terms of district policies, following the school calendar, with 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week.
Compensation: $25.00/hr
