Pay: $35 to $40 hourly (based on exp)
Overview
As a Class B Maintenance Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for the mechanical setup, operation, and maintenance of production lines to ensure all finished goods meet quality standards and customer specifications. You’ll play a key role in keeping our high-speed packaging and filling equipment running efficiently by performing changeovers, adjustments, troubleshooting, and minor repairs. This role supports the broader production and maintenance teams and requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and compliance within a cosmetic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and maintain filling and packaging equipment including bottle fillers, cappers, labelers, tube fillers, induction sealers, and tapers.
- Perform equipment changeovers for new production orders, ensuring line efficiency and adherence to specifications.
- Conduct minor mechanical and electrical repairs to maintain equipment functionality.
- Disassemble and reassemble wet parts of filling equipment for cleaning and sanitization per GMP and SOP standards
Job Description
- Inspect machinery for wear or damage and replace parts as needed.
- Support Class A Mechanics with major repairs, modifications, and system realignments.
- Train production operators on equipment usage and basic maintenance.
- Document all machine settings, change parts, and adjustments per SKU using setup sheets.
- Record and report equipment performance issues or repair needs to the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Clerk.
- Maintain cleanliness of machines and surrounding areas during and after production runs.
- Strong attention to detail with commitment to product quality.
- Professionalism and a proactive problem-solving approach.
Skills and Education
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in equipment setup and operation.
- Ability to perform minor mechanical/electrical repairs and adjustments.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting production line issues.
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary equipment systems. Operation monitoring using gauges, dials, and control systems.
- Understanding of torque specifications, fill weight adjustments, and labeling machine settings.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical technology or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 4–5 years of experience as a mechanic’s assistant, machine operator, or equivalent in a cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or related regulated industry.
- Working knowledge of GMP, safety protocols, and industry best practices
