Are you a seasoned accounting professional with a knack for numbers and a keen eye for detail? We are on the lookout for a dynamic, detail-oriented, and experienced Accounting Technician - Payroll for a permanent position within our government organization. The role involves a wide range of accounting tasks, including payroll, general ledger management, bank reconciliations, reporting, and more. This position offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and stability of the organization.
Responsibilities :
As an Accounting Technician - Payroll, you will be tasked with :
1. Managing the complete payroll process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant regulations.
2. Maintaining and updating the general ledger, including the preparation of journal entries.
3. Conducting bank reconciliations and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
4. Preparing and presenting detailed reports on financial performance, budget variances, and financial forecasts.
5. Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
6. Maintaining statistical records and providing data analysis.
7. Assisting with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
8. Managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
9. Assisting with the management and distribution of grants.
10. Handling tax-related matters, including preparation, submission, and record-keeping.
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate for the Accounting Technician - Payroll position should possess :
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, preferred - AS required.
2. At least 1 year of experience in an accounting role, with specific experience in payroll.
3. Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
4. Strong experience in managing general ledger, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
5. Familiarity with financial regulations and the ability to ensure compliance.
6. Proven experience in maintaining statistical records and performing audits.
7. Strong skills in accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant management, and taxes.
8. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
9. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and liaise with various departments.
11. Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
