Job Details
Responsibilities :
1. Manage and oversee all aspects of state and local tax compliance, including income / franchise, sales / use, property tax, and other state taxes.
2. Conduct research on complex state and local tax issues and develop tax planning strategies.
3. Assist in the management of state and local tax audits, including responding to auditor inquiries and negotiating audit settlements.
4. Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
5. Maintain current knowledge of state and local tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company.
6. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement new procedures as needed.
7. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
8. Develop strong relationships with clients and deliver high-quality tax services that exceed client expectations.
Qualifications :
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree in Taxation or a CPA certification is highly preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in state and local tax (SALT), preferably in a public accounting or corporate tax department.
3. Strong knowledge of state and local tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
4. Excellent research and analytical skills to interpret and apply complex tax laws and regulations.
5. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals.
7. Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
8. Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
