The dean of undergraduate student life (DUSL) plays a critical role in prioritizing an undergraduate student experience that values a vibrant and inclusive student community for Columbia College and Columbia Engineering. Reporting to the deans of both schools, this is a senior leadership position for two of Columbia University's seventeen schools who share a co-curricular program for approximately 6,500 undergraduates. The DUSL provides leadership, strategic direction and operational oversight for the functional work that complements what goes on in the classroom and directly impacts the experience outside of the classroom, including residential life (inclusive of fraternities and sororities), student engagement and multicultural affairs. The DUSL provides oversight for a high-functioning staff of 45, including four direct reports. The DUSL is also responsible for administering an operating budget of $5.4 million. This is a live-on position in housing provided by Columbia University. The salary range is $215,00-$240,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package. Qualifications A master's degree in a relevant field and a minimum 10 years' work experience, including progressively responsible positions within an educational setting and significant management experience in student affairs or similar setting are required. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in developing leaders and supervising teams within complex settings, demonstrating a strong ability to inspire and guide others effectively.
