For one of our clients, we are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer, remotely from the District of Columbia.
In this role, you'll be focused on building scalable back-end systems for client-facing web applications. You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies to create solutions that impact millions of people, contributing to the development of an innovative and secure Online Passport Renewal system. This opportunity offers a collaborative and dynamic remote environment where you’ll work with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful digital products for federal agencies. Your contributions will directly affect the digital transformation of vital public services.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain scalable back-end systems using modern open-source technologies.
- Implement cloud-based solutions in collaboration with enterprise platform teams.
- Participate in Agile processes, including standups, retrospectives, and sprint planning.
- Collaborate with leadership, product managers, and designers to implement business requirements.
- Ensure the smooth operation of the existing application with ongoing support and maintenance.
- Contribute to performance monitoring, benchmarking, and optimization of the system.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) clearance.
- At least 10 years of related experience in backend development.
- Expertise in Python and deep knowledge of APIs, RESTful practices, and GraphQL.
- Experience with cloud services, especially AWS (EKS, MSK, OpenSearch).
- Familiarity with Docker containerization and Kubernetes (Kustomize, ArgoCD, Helm).
- Proficiency in relational and non-relational databases (SQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
- Strong experience with Redis, event-driven architectures, and automated testing platforms.
- Solid documentation skills and experience with Git, DevOps, and Terraform.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Competitive salary range: $112,500 - $157,000.
