Job Description
The Parent Support Partner will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide support and guidance to families of youth with severe emotional disturbances and/or intellectual developmental disabilities. This role requires a strong understanding of mental health services and the ability to navigate complex systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- PROVIDES PEER-DELIVERED SUPPORT TO PARENTS OF YOUTH WITH SEVERE EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCES AND/OR INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES IN THE PUBLIC MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM
- FACILITATES ACCESS TO THE SPECTRUM OF SERVICES AND ASSISTS WITH SYSTEMS NAVIGATION
- TEACHES PARENTING SKILLS TO MANAGE DAY-TO-DAY CHALLENGES OF RAISING CHILDREN WITH SED, IDD, OR AUTISM
- WORKS INDIVIDUALLY WITH FAMILIES WHOSE CHILDREN ARE RECEIVING CMH SERVICES AND WHO NEED ADDITIONAL SUPPORTS AND SKILL BUILDING TO REACH THEIR GOALS
Requirements:
- Must be a parent or primary caregiver that is raising or has raised a child with emotional, behavioral and/or mental health challenges and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities
- ABILITY TO FACILITATE GROUP DIALOGUE AND CONVERSATION AND HAS SOME EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC SPEAKING AND TRAINING
- MUST HAVE ABILITY TO USE BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS
- ABILITY TO INTERACT WITH PHYSICIANS AND OTHER HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER
