We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to assist our Underwriter/Broker Senior in servicing and operational management of accounts. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with numbers and has excellent communication skills.
About the Role:
This position will be responsible for underwriting, servicing, and managing assigned accounts. You will have production and service goals assigned and will be measured on attainment of both. Your primary focus will be on determining whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of property value, location, usage, and safety features, and other pertinent information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Underwriter/Broker Senior in servicing and operational management of accounts
- Underwrite individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis
- Determine whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of property value, location, usage, and safety features, and other pertinent information
- Frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions
Requirements:
Required: Bachelor's degree and 3 years related experience required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Business, Finance, Insurance)
2 years of experience in a similar role
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Familiarity with insurance industry practices and regulations
