About this role
This job involves administering anesthesia to patients during surgical, obstetrical, and other pain-producing clinical procedures under the supervision of a physician.
You will work collaboratively with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff who care for patients.
Key responsibilities
- Document patient procedures and incidents.
- Assess patients before, during, and after administering anesthesia.
- Ensure patient safety and administer anesthesia following accepted practice techniques.
- Act as a liaison to surgeons, anesthesiologists, co-workers, patients, and families.
- Participate in department quality assurance initiatives and activities of professional development.
- Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, including respect for privacy and communication style.
Requirements
- Master's degree from a school of nurse anesthesia accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
- License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice.
- Certification through the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
Work environment
This role requires standing for prolonged periods and exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue.
