Job Description
The Director, Research & Development (R&D) Change and Engagement is responsible for leading and supporting Organon Research & Development through organizational change management initiatives in alignment with the future vision, strategy, and roadmap. This role is responsible for embedding a culture of continuous improvement, enhancing employee engagement and fostering a positive culture within R&D. The Director, Change and Engagement will support organizational transformation with a people-first approach to ensure change is managed appropriately and with our founders involved.
This role is also central to ensuring that founders are aware, aligned, and able to act on changes as they occur, as well as support a progressive and adaptive culture in line with strategic business objectives. Strong leadership and communication skills are required across multi-functional matrix teams to collaborate and problem-solve. These versatile talents will position them to apply their expertise to building our future, transforming our ways of working, leading our talent, culture, and developing best practices.
The ideal candidate will come into our NJ or PA office in a hybrid capacity.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Head of Innovation Strategy and Integration to develop and implement a comprehensive change management approach that allows for the successful adoption of new initiatives, ensuring integration into organizational culture, communications, and operations.
- Partner with the Strategy and Transformation team on the portfolio of change initiatives led out of the group.
- Design and deliver engagement programs and workshops to support change initiatives and build change management capabilities within R&D.
- Participate in complex, large-scale, cross-functional, global change initiatives, ensuring change and engagement across the organization.
- Design, develop, and oversee communication strategies that ensure clear, consistent messaging, fostering engagement and understanding across all levels of the organization and partner with Global Communication to execute the Communications Plan.
- Lead and manage organizational impact assessments, readiness evaluations, and change adoption strategies, ensuring that the business is prepared for transformational shifts in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
- Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement and foster a positive and inclusive culture.
- Create content such as emails, presentations, and news articles to support change initiatives and drive awareness.
- Work with Strategy and Transformation Leads to establish and track metrics to measure the success of change management efforts.
- Serve as a champion for change, embedding change management principles into project execution and ways of working.
- Contribute to presentations for Board meetings, ELT meetings, and R&D Leadership Team.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and members of the R&D LT to assess readiness of change, manage change risks, and drive buy-in.
- Foster the development of high-performing teams that are focused, empowered, and deliver on business priorities.
- Drive a culture of inclusivity, respect, innovation, and entrepreneurism.
- Stay current with research and trends to support the successful implementation of business priorities.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree required with seven years of related experience (five years with Master's degree).
- Business Acumen: Understanding of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Industry knowledge: Experience or knowledge of the end-to-end research and development processes.
- Leadership: Ability to engage and influence senior-level stakeholders around business outcomes and embracing change efforts. Ability to drive and influence work outside of your function. Drive training and adoption of new change management framework.
- Collaboration: Work with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner, including the ability to build and maintain critical networks and collaborative relationships.
- Oral and Written Communications: Outstanding verbal, written, and executive-level presentation abilities and interpersonal skills.
- Team Leadership: Help build and lead a high-performing team, provide mentorship, guidance, and support to drive individual and collective success.
- Performance metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and impact of change management.
- Minimum five to seven years change management, communications, and transformation experience preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industries.
- Significant experience leading large, global organizational transformations as well as function-specific changes in a complex and dynamic environment.
Preferred Education:
- Master's degree preferred.
