Job Overview

The Whittier Home Museum is a National Historic Landmark dedicated to preserving the legacy of poet John Greenleaf Whittier. The Whittier Home Association seeks an experienced Executive Director to provide strategic leadership and management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Implement the association's current strategic plan in partnership with the Board of Directors.
2. Develop and manage operational structure, including volunteer work.
3. Cultivate relationships with donors, members, volunteers, and community organizations.
4. Secure financial support from foundations, businesses, and government funding sources.

Requirements

To be successful as the Executive Director, you will have:

• A strong background in non-profit development and management.
• Experience working with fundraising/membership software programs.
• Bachelor's degree in history, museum studies, historic preservation, art history, or related field.
• Strong administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.

About the Role

This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours/week, with flexibility to accommodate events and meetings. The primary work location is remote, but regular visits to the Whittier home are necessary for hosting events, attending meetings, and meeting donors.
