Bryn Mawr College seeks a General Counsel to provide in-house legal services and counsel.
Position Overview
The General Counsel will serve as the College's chief legal officer, responsible for providing advice and counsel to the College, its trustees, administrators, and employees. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing a full range of in-house legal services and counsel
- Advising on compliance with federal, state, and local laws
- Identifying areas of risk and advising on mitigation strategies
- Reviewing contracts and other legal documents
- Managing outside counsel when necessary
Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain responsibility for a wide range of legal services
- Represent or oversee representation of the College in judicial and administrative proceedings
- Establish a legal services strategy and operation
- Stay abreast of legal developments relevant to higher education
- Supervise and handle internal investigations
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school
- Minimum 10 years of legal experience in private practice and/or in-house counsel
- Licensed to practice law in at least one United States jurisdiction
- Strong knowledge of FERPA, ADA, Title IX, and Title VI
- Experience conducting complex internal investigations
