Job Summary
The Medical Director provides overall supervision of medical services at the correctional facility. This includes attending to patients, providing medical consultations, and serving as a liaison for clinical matters with external medical providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing medical programs and assess the health care needs of the inmate population.
- Design and implement policies, procedures, and protocols for the healthcare unit and medical staff.
- Conduct inmate sick calls, examine, diagnose, and treat inmates referred to the Medical Director.
- Review and monitor laboratory, x-ray, and ancillary reports, ensuring documentation on inmates' charts.
Requirements
A current New Mexico Medical license and Medical Degree are required. Primary care/internal medicine experience is preferred, along with a minimum of 3 years in an institutional healthcare setting.
