Job Summary
This position requires an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with expertise in anesthesia administration to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical, obstetrical, and other pain-producing procedures under the supervision of a physician.
The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including residents, fellows, attendings, and staff, to ensure seamless patient care.
Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients before, during, and after administering anesthesia to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Anesthesia Administration: Administer anesthesia following accepted practice techniques, adapting behavior to specific patient populations as needed.
- Liaison and Communication: Serve as a liaison between surgeons, anesthesiologists, co-workers, patients, and families, maintaining effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Quality Assurance and Development: Participate in department quality assurance initiatives and activities of professional development, promoting continuous improvement in patient care.
- Adaptability and Flexibility: Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing patient needs, collaborating with the healthcare team, and prioritizing tasks effectively.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must possess a Master's degree from a school of nurse anesthesia accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). Additionally, they should hold a license as an APRN in the state of practice, certification through the AANA, and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
