Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Parent Support Partner to join our team. As a Parent Support Partner, you will work closely with families of youth with severe emotional disturbances and/or intellectual developmental disabilities to provide support and guidance. Key Responsibilities:
- Provides peer-delivered support to parents of youth with severe emotional disturbances and/or intellectual developmental disabilities in the public mental health system
- FACILITATES ACCESS TO THE SPECTRUM OF SERVICES AND ASSISTS WITH SYSTEMS NAVIGATION
- TEACHES PARENTING SKILLS TO MANAGE DAY-TO-DAY CHALLENGES OF RAISING CHILDREN WITH SED, IDD, OR AUTISM
- WORKS INDIVIDUALLY WITH FAMILIES WHOSE CHILDREN ARE RECEIVING CMH SERVICES AND WHO NEED ADDITIONAL SUPPORTS AND SKILL BUILDING TO REACH THEIR GOALS
Requirements:
- Must be a parent or primary caregiver that is raising or has raised a child with emotional, behavioral and/or mental health challenges and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Ability to facilitate group dialogue and conversation and has some experience in public speaking and training
- Must have ability to use basic computer skills
- Ability to interact with physicians and other healthcare providers in a professional manner
