Job Title: Linux Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineer to join our Submarine Trainer Development Team, supporting the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, RI.
You will work with the latest generation Intel based servers, designing and implementing large-scale System of Systems architecture for high-fidelity simulation, training, and analysis products for the US Navy.
This position requires US Citizenship, a DoD Secret Security clearance, and is full-time onsite.
Main Responsibilities
- Design, develop, install, and integrate submarine training systems
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, system services, application software, and system management tools for Linux systems, both natively and within virtual machines
- Work with the team to monitor and test applications, virtual machines, and containers to identify issues with installation and performance
- Troubleshoot Information Technology (IT) Systems to diagnose and suggest/implement potential solutions
- Support physical hardware installation of IT computing equipment and cabling at both local and remote sites
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree with 5 years of experience OR Master's Degree with 3 years of experience OR High School diploma with 9 years' experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
- Familiar with Networking (OSI Network Layers, TCP/IP, DHCP)
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

- Experience with System Build Automation Tools (Linux kickstart, Puppet, Windows Deployment Server (WDS))
- Computer/Electronics Hardware knowledge
