Job Description
Hoppe For Youth's Residential Services Department provides community-based, trauma-informed, youth and family-driven care to adolescents and young adults in Nassau and Suffolk County. Serving youth from varying points of entry with the child welfare system, juvenile justice system, and runaway and homeless youth/young adults, the opportunities to alter the trajectory for youth in need are abundant. Youth are supported 24/7 by a team of multi-disciplinary professionals, paraprofessionals, and agency administration that consistently meets standards for accreditation and licensing regulations.
The Runaway and Homeless Youth Services (RHYS) Program Director oversees, implements, and supports programming in the Youth Crisis Shelter, including Basic Center program services, and the Transitional Housing/Rapid Re-Housing (TH-RRH) Program. The goal of RHYS is to prevent youth homelessness through housing options, case management and aftercare services offered through a trauma-informed and housing-first approach. The Program Director is instrumental in effectuating program deliverables including adherence to grant and contract reporting requirements. The Program Director provides direct supervision to case managers and social work interns and indirect support and supervision to staff assigned to each program. The expectation of the Program Director is to implement services to youth and their families utilizing evidence-based, youth and family-centered approaches that serve the agency's overall mission to enhance the lives of youth and families on Long Island. The Program Director will have the opportunity to foster and nourish relationships with community partners, coalitions, and county, state, and federal liaisons all working to end youth homelessness.
