**Project Coordinator II (Online Accessibility Support Specialist)**
Diablo Valley College is seeking an Online Accessibility Specialist, a 12-month temporary position with potential for renewal. This specialist will play a key collaborative role in advancing online accessibility at the college.
The Online Accessibility Specialist will work closely with faculty, classified, and administrators to provide expertise and training on technical online accessibility, oversee the remediation and revision of online materials for major projects, and ensure compliance with Section 508 and other relevant regulations through the lens of Universal Design for Learning.
Through these efforts, the Online Accessibility Specialist will support the college's commitment to inclusive and equitable online experiences for all.
We offer a hybrid onsite/remote work location.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and Strengthen Online Accessibility for Students
- Assess and document accessibility needs across student-facing digital learning environments, including the Learning Management System (Canvas) and third-party instructional technologies, to recommend an action plan for improvements and remediation projects.
- Provide Technical Guidance and Direct Accessibility Support for Instruction
- Offer hands-on assistance to faculty and staff in designing 508-compliant and inclusive learning experiences (online, hybrid, and career education), with emphasis on Universal Design for Learning.
- Collaborate with Disability Support Services (DSS)
- Work with DSS to identify student-centered accessibility needs, enhance existing support services, and implement accessibility practices to support students with disabilities in online learning environments.
- Facilitate Professional Development
- Conduct workshops on online accessibility including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the use of emerging technologies (e.g.,
- Create and maintain accessible templates and resources for administrative use.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in education, information management, computer science, instructional design, educational development, digital media, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in accessibility compliance (ADA 508) and associated standards and guidelines, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and/or accessible online course and document design.
