The Role
This Public Affairs Associate position plays a critical role in developing and implementing strategic priorities in the state of Florida. As a member of the AARP Florida State Office Team, you will work closely with colleagues on the State Advocacy and State Communications teams to support local and state advocacy issues and messaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and implements community engagement and communication strategies tailored to target audiences in statewide and local communities
- Establishes strategic community partnerships and leverages internal and/or external resources to raise the visibility of the organization within communities
Requirements
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Human Resources, and/or Non-Profit Management, Social or Human Sciences, Marketing and Public Relations, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Understanding of community organizing, communications, marketing and public relations
- Strong social media and writing skills and the ability to tell a cohesive story through visual elements; and familiarity with new media platforms
