About the Position
The Speech and Debate Program Director will play a critical role in shaping the educational experience for students participating in the Summer Portals program.
- Leadership Role: Serve as a leader and mentor to students, instructors, and staff, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Communication Skills: Possess strong communication skills, effectively promoting inclusive and respectful behavior amongst students and colleagues.
- Time Management: Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills, overseeing the program and other instructor colleagues.
- Qualifications: A four-year College Degree is required, with demonstrated successful teaching and/or coaching experience in Speech and Debate, preferably with middle school or high school students.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Oversight: Oversee the implementation of the Speech and Debate program, ensuring alignment with the overall program goals and objectives.
- Faculty Supervision: Supervise and guide instructors in their teaching and mentoring responsibilities, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to deliver high-quality instruction.
- Mentorship: Mentor a Speech and Debate Summer Fellow, providing guidance and support in classroom and research activities.
- Student Support: Guide students in preparing a final program culminating experience, which demonstrates their mastery and confidence gained through the program.
