Festival of Arts/Pageant of the Masters is a non-profit organization that has supported the growth and development of the community and the arts in Laguna Beach for nearly 90 years.
The Festival produces two world-renowned events: The Festival of Arts Fine Art Show and the Pageant of the Masters, attracting more than 250,000 visitors every summer.
About the Position
We are hiring a full-time General Accountant to join our team. This position is a year-round, hourly, non-exempt role.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general accounting duties, including financial reporting and analysis.
- Coordinate the execution of the Festival's Scholarship Program.
- Manage the POS system, provide system programming, and train sales staff on its use.
- Process accounts receivable, cash receipts, journal entries, and prepare monthly reports for managers and board members.
- Assist with budget preparation, audit coordination, and scholarship program management.
- Seasonal gift shop responsibilities include inventory management, daily cash reconciliation, and sales tax report preparation.
Working Hours
This position works Monday through Friday but may require occasional evenings and overtime during peak periods.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in all phases of accounting.
- Excellent math skills and data entry management.
- Proven knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, accounts payable and receivables, fund accounting, and financial statement preparation.
Preferred Skills
We also value candidates with intermediate to advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word. Knowledge of Sage 100 and ADP payroll systems is a plus.
Physical Demands
This role requires sitting or standing at a workstation for long periods, walking up and down stairs, and using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, including heavy keyboard use.
