Job Responsibilities
The Director of Youth Ministry will lead the spiritual development of 20-30 youth in grades 6-12 by planning and organizing various activities, such as Bible studies, worship services, and social events. This role demands building strong relationships with teenagers and their families, recruiting and training volunteers, and providing mentorship and guidance on spiritual growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead Sunday youth worship services and teach Bible studies.
- Facilitate discussions on faith and life application.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to youth on spiritual growth.
- Program Development:
- Coordinate on and off-site youth events, including retreats, community service projects, and social gatherings.
- Research engaging curriculum for youth programs.
- Relationship Building:
- Develop strong connections with youth and their families through regular communication and available support.
- Establish relationships with church staff and other ministry leaders.
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of youth volunteers.
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead youth leadership teams β Student Leadership Team (SLT) and foster youth involvement in ministry.
- Manage administrative tasks related to youth ministry, including record-keeping and reporting.
- Collaborate with pastoral staff to ensure youth volunteers receive Child Safety Training.
- Participate in training courses for professional development.
Requirements
- Strong Christian faith with a growing walk with Jesus.
- Good reputation with the local church, peers, and the public.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership abilities and experience working with teenagers.
- Understanding of youth development and challenges.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Attending seminary and/or has a calling to be trained in seminary.
- Youth Ministry experience preferred or similar work experience with youth.
- Understanding of Presbyterian polity, worship, and theology, or the willingness to learn.
