The UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity was established in 2004 to address disparities in health status and health care in the United States. The Center conducts community-partnered intervention research in health promotion and disease prevention to mitigate disparities. The CPCR is a joint program of the Fielding School of Public Health and the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and leads efforts in population-based cancer prevention and control research. In addition to conducting research, both Centers have a strong focus on community outreach and engagement including conducting education and capacity-building activities, particularly in Los Angeles and surrounding counties.

The Centers are engaged in multiple projects and initiatives across the spectrum of disease prevention and control with a focus on issues that are community priorities including obesity, tobacco control, cancer prevention and screening, unhealthy alcohol use, vaccine uptake, diverse participation in research and clinical trials.

Under general direction and oversight from Center leadership, the Health Equity Project Associate will participate in, and provide support for, community outreach and research activities conducted in the center. The Project Associate will be expected to develop, adapt, and deliver health education programming and curricula to diverse community groups throughout Los Angeles County; support community engaged research projects; disseminate research findings in community settings. This role involves direct program delivery to community members and organizations, as well as direct participation in Center research.
