The successful candidate will be instrumental in the examination and diagnosis of diseases through the study of cells and tissues. This position is ideal for an experienced pathologist with a strong background in cytology who is eager to make a significant impact in patient care.
Responsibilities
As a Locum Pathologist, your key responsibilities will include
- Performing complex microscopic examination of cytology specimens and providing accurate interpretation of results.
- Collaborating with clinical staff to provide consultative services regarding the appropriate and most effective patient diagnostic and treatment options.
- Participating in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Ensuring compliance with quality control procedures and standards.
- Providing expert advice to laboratory staff, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participating in research activities and contributing to scientific papers.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments in the field of pathology and cytology.
- Participating in teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications
- Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
- Subspecialty training or experience in cytology is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of pathology.
- Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency in interpreting cytology specimens.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively work with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
- Proficiency in using laboratory information systems and medical software.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong research skills with a track record of contributing to scientific literature.
