Responsibilities
As an Accounting Manager, your primary responsibilities will include
- Overseeing and managing all general ledger accounting activities.
- Supervising, directing, and reviewing the work of the accounting staff (including, but not limited to, cash reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll transactions).
- Producing accurate and timely financial statements and providing commentary on financial results.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information.
- Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, analyzing budget variances, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
- Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Coordinating with external auditors to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
The ideal candidate for the Accounting Manager role must have
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or relevant certification (such as CPA, CMA, CGA or CA) is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Extensive knowledge of financial reporting principles and practices.
- Exceptional analytical skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent leadership abilities, with a proven track record of managing a team to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
- Proficiency in using financial software and advanced skills in MS Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information and complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
- The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
